Cookie Policy
1. The policy
We use cookies and similar technologies. Under the ePrivacy Regulations (S.I. No. 336 of 2011), non-essential cookies are set only with your consent, which you can change at any time.
| Type | Purpose | Consent needed |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keeping you logged in, security, remembering your cookie choices | No |
| Functional | Remembering language, recent searches, saved routes | Yes |
| Analytics | Understanding which routes and features are used, so we know where to launch next | Yes |
| Third-party maps | Map tiles and routing are served by external providers, which may set their own cookies | Yes |
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can also block cookies in your browser, though strictly necessary ones are needed for the site to work.
2. What Yapalift sets today
As things stand:
| Category | In use today |
|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Your sign-in session, set by our authentication provider, and a record of the cookie choice you made on this page so we do not ask again. |
| Functional | Nothing yet. |
| Analytics | Nothing. We run no analytics product of any kind and have never done so. |
| Third-party maps | Detailed road maps on trip pages, from MapTiler. Only loaded if you say yes — decline and you still get a map of the route, drawn by us and served from our own servers, with no outside request at all. |
Two things do reach outside services when you use particular features, though neither stores anything on your device. Planning a route as a driver sends the start, end and stopping-point coordinates to an open public routing service to work out the road. Joining the waitlist sends your details to the form provider that delivers them to us. In the mobile app, the map screens load a map library from unpkg.com, which sees the phone’s IP address. Both happen only when you take that action.
If any of the empty rows above changes, we will ask before it does, and the version number on the consent record changes so that a choice made under the old wording is not carried over to the new one.
3. Changing your choice
Your choice is stored on your own device and kept for six months, after which we ask again. You can change it whenever you like — refusing is exactly as easy as accepting, and turning something off later works the same way as never turning it on.
